Songspiration: Breaking God's Heart and Your Own

Today's blog post drew inspiration from the song Hosanna by Hillsong. The following words are the lyrics that inspired this post:

"Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Every thing I am for Your kingdom's cause..."

Honestly, I feel like these words can mean different things to different people. To some, it can be taken in its plain context. To others, it can be taken in a completely different perspective. For example, when I was listening to this song this morning, "break my heart for what breaks yours" stood out in my mind. Almost immediately, I thought of a broken heart in a relationship. Some hate to break the hearts of others, especially in relationships. Personally, I would hate to break someone's heart. I would much rather have my heart broken. Or sometimes even feel the pain someone else is feeling so I know how to comfort them. Anyways, the main idea that popped in my head are relationship problems. This song ended up reminded me to keep God in the center of a relationship, whether it is platonic or with a significant other. I could only imagine it would break God's heart to treat our significant other so badly in relationships. With that being said, it is kind of the same as saying, "Break my heart for what breaks Yours." The pain you feel in a heartbreak is symbolic of how God feels when you (or the other person) treats your partner (or you) so badly. With that being said, my challenge for you today is to notice the things that break your heart (or hurt you) and try to figure out in what ways they could hurt God.
